CRITICAL MASS

Thanks to Josh for a great time in Downtown Boise Friday evening.  About twenty bicycles and their riders of every age rode through downtown Boise Friday the 25th and it was a great time.  The last Friday of every month, at the bandshell in Julia Davis Park, riders will meet and take a leisurely ride through downtown.  Bring your coolest bike and show it off.  Let's make these Critical Mass rides a huge event in Boise.  Remember, as a bicyclist you enjoy full lane rights and NO GASOLINE!  Promote cycling as a great way to ditch that car and get fit at the same time.

Channel two came out and covered the event and did an outstanding job.  Thanks Adam Rodriguez for the story and thanks Eyewitness News for helping to get the word out.

What the heck is going on?

This last couple of weeks has been inspiring.  The list of People willing and anxious to challenge the arbitrary rule of the Garden City "good ol' boys" is growing fast.  The next "event" will be scheduled to coincide with the other bicycle related activities coming to Boise soon.  With the focus on bicycling as an environmentally sound alternative and the entire community being involved in various activities, the Garden City Council will be responsible for bringing controversy to the festivities.  Keep e-mailing and checking in here for the dates and times.

Next thing up...why is there so much privately held real-estate along the river and why hasn't Johnny and the gang talked about this?  I have been checking the Ada County Assessor's site for lot information and ownership records.  I have found that a great deal of the land that contains the "public greenbelt" is actually private, owned by the Riverside Village Homeowner's Association.  Furthermore, Idaho COG has discovered a document that seems to show that the lots along the river are supposed to have been deeded to the City of Garden City, under the same conditions that the State of Idaho deeded their portions.  What is going on here?  Is the City selling private property or are the private owners really just letting the battle rage while they keep their heads down, hoping nobody will notice?  It must be nice to own a politician... how much for that mayor in the window?

Don't taze me bro!

Several people have expressed their willingness to be cited and even arrested to further our cause.  If you are one of these people, e-mail me or leave a post here.

ACHD is having a meeting this week.  Mayor Evans will be trying to lay down a smoke screen and Gary Segers will be fanning it away to expose the silliness.  If they Garden City Mayor and City Council don't relent, our next action will involve clogging the court with "criminal bikers".

Get in touch with me here and get on the list so I can contact you directly with details in the coming week(s).  We need numbers for this to work and I am sure that the media exposure from this event will get the attention of a lot more people this time.
